Obama won the Dems; now what

OK, so now that Obama has apparently won the Democratic nomination, what does it mean in the general election in November. I don't know either. My wife is convinced that the USA is not ready for Obama and that McCain is going to win. She's part of the Clinton group of "Angry middle-aged white women" and there's some very genuine anger going on there. As a group they seem to be sure there was this sexist undercurrent that says the USA is more ready for a non-white president than for a woman. I don't agree, and my daughters (all voting age) just don't see gender as an issue. I know it's debatable, but Clinton is her own worse enemy and it has nothing to do with gender.
